If your Audi shows the parking aid sensors but no camera picture when you select reverse, the camera harness has failed. It is a common fault, the camera itself is usually fine, and it is repairable.
What you will notice
You get the parking sensors, but no camera picture. This is the classic one. Select reverse and the MMI shows the parking aid display — the car outline with the distance bars — but the camera image never appears. The system is clearly working, the picture just is not there.
A black screen where the camera should be. Sometimes with a message along the lines of “Rear view camera system currently not available”.
A picture that flickers, rolls or fills with static rather than failing outright.
It works sometimes. If the camera comes back depending on how the tailgate is sitting, that is a wiring fault, not a camera fault.
Why it happens
The camera wiring passes through the tailgate hinge, so it flexes every time the boot is opened and closed. Over the years it gives out. It is a common fault and it is repairable.
What a dealer usually does
Replaces the camera. When that does not fix it, replaces the control module.
Both are expensive, and neither addresses a broken wire in the hinge. The camera gets blamed because that is what the fault code points at.

We diagnose it properly first, then repair the harness itself — we do not replace your camera or your module unless they have genuinely failed.
The wiring is repaired at the hinge and resealed properly, so it lasts.
